Sunday, September 22 2019, 9am Gospel Pilgrim Cemetery Service Learning The Gospel Pilgrim Cemetery, founded in 1882, was once a very prominent burial site for African Americans in Athens, Georgia. The cemetery was largely neglected and fell into disrepair over the last three decades. Recently, there has been a resurrection of interest in Gospel Pilgrim and in the history and identity of the more than 3000 people who were laid to rest there over the last 126 years. Come with us to restore this crucial part of Athenian history! Meet at Chera Jo's apartment at 8:30am. 9:00am - 12:00pm * closed toe shoes, long pants, bug spray, and water bottle recommended * if you're under 18, let DAs know because you'll need to sign a waiver
