Hello! I have been teaching history at the University of Georgia since 2008. In 2023, I became director of the Franklin Residential College, which I see as an opportunity teach the “whole student,” a process of purposeful learning in and out of the classroom. The FRC also reinforces one of my fundamental beliefs: the idea that a broad liberal arts education provides the best foundation for most careers and prepares young people for the challenges of the twenty-first century.

In my personal life, I love traveling and seeing live music. I'd love to chat about places you've visited or your favorite bands!

Education:

PhD, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, US Cultural and Intellectual History
MA, Georgia State University, U.S. History
BA, Emory University, History
