FRC goes to Gospel Pilgrim Cemetery

On Feb. 20, FRC held a service learning event at Gospel Pilgrim, a historic African American cemetery in east Athens. Our residents pulled weeds and cleared pathways, and also led tours for members of the Athens community. The stops on the tour drew upon student research to shed light on the lives of the educators, entrepreneurs, veterans and politicians buried in Gospel Pilgrim. We will be posting video, images, and biographies on our website this spring. This event, supported by the Willson Center for Humanities and Arts and the History department, formed part of UGA's Black History Month programming.
