Wednesday, October 8 2025, 5:30 - 6:30pm Rutherford Hall Library Academic Event Dr. Bethany Bateman McDonald, Spanish Lecturer in the Department of Romance Languages and Quechua Instructor for the Latin American and Caribbean Studies Institute (LACSI) at the University of Georgia, will present her research on language variation and change resulting from contact between Spanish and Quechua speakers in the Peruvian Andes. Her presentation will also highlight the cross-disciplinary data collection methods employed in this work, with particular attention to her collaboration with Spanish-speaking healthcare practitioners at CerviCusco, a local women’s health clinic, and their Quechua-speaking patients in rural Andean communities.
